Calculating dosage where the dose is expressed as mg/kg uses multiplication skills – this is similar to calculating the cooking time of turkey in minutes per kg. For example, a turkey requires a cooking time of 30 minutes per kg.
Allocating resources uses division skills – this is similar to dividing a budget between people. In the UK, people spend, on average, £602 on Christmas gifts.
Calculating dose reduction in renal impairment requires understanding of percentages – this is similar to calculating how much items cost after a price reduction. For example, after Christmas a nice pair of shoes originally costing £80 are reduced by 25%.
